Junior Herbalist Club is now registering for Year One Easter School in Spring 2027 with morning sessions 9.30am-12noon covering the entire Level One course in a  week.

Classes are also available for schools and home ed groups.

Venue: Prestbury Village Hall, Prestbury, 

Suitable for children from ages 7+ (children under 8 need a parent/gurdian to stay)

Each session we will be learn about the medicinal uses of plants, through stories, songs, growing, harvesting, and making something to take home – lavender bags, lip balms, bath bombs, lotions, potions and much more!

The aim of JHC is to let children learn about the healing and medicinal plants all around them in a safe and supervised environment and is proudly supported by the National Institute of Medical Herbalists.

The course includes:

· Identification of common herbs growing all around
· Safety – which herbs are safe to use and which are poisonous
· Folklore – taught through stories and songs
· How to grow and harvest herbs
· Medicinal uses of common herbs
· How to use a variety of common herbs for first aid
· How to make a variety of herbal preparations to keep and take home
· Respect for all plants and their environment

All classes run by a Medical Herbalist and NIMH registered JHC leader

Places are strictly limited and as the course is very popular, early booking is advised to avoid disappointment.

Are you looking for something different for a group of friends, a children’s party or even a herbal hen-do?

I regularly create unique and different events for private groups, to include:

– Herbal walks, plant ID and collecting herbs to make simple garden/kitchen remedies

– Making flower crowns to take home

– Natural skincare workshops, always hands-on and the opportunity to learn how to make natural balms and creams to take home

– Children’s potion parties – great fun for nature-loving children. Learn about some garden weeds and make potions to take home including sleep pillows, magical jars and lip balms.

– Tea blending – you’ll blend your own herbal tea to take home after experiencing a whole host of tea tastings using all the senses. This is a great introduction to herbal tea and the herbs you can easily grow in your garden. You’ll also learn how to best harvest and preserve herbs to maintain their vibrancy and flavour.

Autumn Fire Cider & Winter Wellness Workshop

Date: tbc

Leek, Staffordshire

Join me in Leek to ready yourself for autumn and winter when you’ll make a traditional ‘Fire Cider’ (non alcoholic!) to take home.

During the workshop I’ll talk you through the steps and we’ll make the Fire Cider together, you’ll learn about all the herbs we work with – the science and the folklore. You’ll also be given details on what to do next after the workshop as your Fire Cider needs to mature for a few weeks You’ll also pick up tips on other easy kitchen remedies for the winter including Onion Syrup and herbal teas.

The herbs we will cover include Thyme, Rosemary, Garlic, Chilli, Ginger, Turmeric, Citrus, Onions and more.

This is a fun workshop and you’ll takeaway lots of new knowledge and your jar of Fire Cider to enjoy over the winter months. There’ll be plenty of herbal teas to enjoy and you’ll have your own worksheets to take home as reference.

Tickets are £45 per person and must be booked in advance. This includes all the organic herbs, equipment, tuition, worksheets, herbal teas during the workshop and your own jar of Fire Cider to take home.

Festive Herbal Christmas Wreath Workshop, Prestbury

Date: Saturday 21st November

Location: Prestbury Village Hall, Cheshire

Join me to make a festive wreath with foliage and herbs in time for Christmas on Saturday 21st November from 10.30am-12.30pm at Prestbury Village Hall.

Bring an apron and gloves as you’ll be getting hands on to make your wreath using herbs and foliage to welcome in the festive season!

All the equipment will be provided including the herbs, foliage, decoration, ribbon, wreath rings, moss, wire and tuition.

Refreshments and plenty of delicious warming herbal teas and spiced apple juice will also be included. You’ll also hear about some of the folklore and magical associations of the herbs being used for your wreath making.

Why not bring a friend or one of the family and you can also buy gift vouchers and the workshop makes a lovely early Christmas present!

Tickets are £55 and places are limited to ensure everyone has plenty of space.

‘Makers at the Mill’ returns to Torr Vale Mill with their annual Christmas Fair. This curated makers market brings together some of the best artisans from around the North West, Staffs, Lancs, Yorks and the High Peak to celebrate all things handmade.

The Fair showcases jewellery, printmaking, textiles, ceramics, illustration, plus there’s food and drink produced by independent makers including patisserie, handmade chocolate, homemade pickles and much more.

Winter Herb School: Create Your Own Herbarium herb book

As the evenings draw in join me for a little winter magic at The Button Warehouse.

Over three cosy Thursday evenings, meeting once a month throughout winter we’ll gather to create a beautiful Herbarium—your own carefully curated collection of pressed herbs and plants, filled with the stories, folklore, and quiet wisdom of the season.

Together we’ll wander through the world of herbs, learning how to identify, press, preserve, and present the plants that surround us, while exploring their traditional uses, folklore, and the gentle rituals that have connected people with nature for centuries.

Think candlelit creativity, botanical treasures, good conversation, and a touch of that Practical Magic feeling—celebrating the beauty of the season with kindred spirits.

Whether you’re just beginning your herbal journey or looking to deepen your connection with the plants around you, you’ll leave with new knowledge, lasting memories, and a handcrafted herbarium to treasure.
