Junior Herbalist Club is now registering for Year One midweek intake, starting in September 2026, with 10 classes over 12 months for children aged 7-12.

There are also Summer Schools in August 2026 with morning sessions 9.30am-12noon covering the entire Level One and Level Two course – see post below for more details!

Making ‘lotions and potions’ learning about the science and traditions of medicinal herbs through play, but covertly covering Maths, English, Science, Latin, Botany, Ecology and more!

Classes also available for schools and home ed groups.

Venue: Prestbury Village Hall, Prestbury, 

Suitable for children from ages 7- 12 (children under 8 need a parent/gurdian to stay)

Each month we will be learning about the medicinal uses of plants, stories, songs, growing, harvesting, and making something to take home – lavender bags, lip balms, bath bombs, lotions, potions and much more!

The aim of JHC is to let children learn about the healing and medicinal plants all around them in a safe and supervised environment and is proudly supported by the National Institute of Medical Herbalists.

The course includes:

· Identification of common herbs growing all around
· Safety – which herbs are safe to use and which are poisonous
· Folklore – taught through stories and songs
· How to grow and harvest herbs
· Medicinal uses of common herbs
· How to use a variety of common herbs for first aid
· How to make a variety of herbal preparations to keep and take home
· Respect for all plants and their environment

All classes run by a Medical Herbalist and NIMH registered JHC leader

Places are strictly limited and as the course is very popular, early booking is advised to avoid disappointment.

The Essence of Herbal Infusions Herb Workshop, Plumleys Garden Centre, Plumley, Knutsford

Date: Thursday 19th July 2026, 11am-12.30pm

Location: Plumleys Garden Centre, Nr Knutsford, Cheshire

Join me on Thursday 16th July at Plumleys Garden Centre to learn all about herbal infusions and how I work with plant medicine in my dispensary.

You’ll blend your own herbal tea to take home after experiencing a whole host of tea tastings using all the senses. So often people say to me that they just don’t know what flavours they like and this is a great way to taste a selection of different herbal teas!

During the workshop you’ll also learn about some folklore and historical methods of working with the selection of seasonal herbs. In addition you’ll learn tips on harvesting, drying and storing herbs for teas and what to look out for when you’re buying or creating your own blends.

Why not bring a friend or one of the family – this event also makes a lovely gift for someone.

Into the Heart of Rose Workshop, Plumleys Garden Centre, Plumley, Knutsford

Date: Thursday 30th July 2026, 10.30am-12.30pm

Location: Plumleys Garden Centre, Nr Knutsford, Cheshire

Join me for a sensory workshop to learn all about Rose and how I work with this beautiful plant medicine in my dispensary. Historically Rose has been associated with the emotional and physical heart, linked to Cupid, quoted by Shakespeare and loved by famous figures such as Cleopatra.

During the morning you’ll discover the folklore, magic and historical associations of Rose, as well as experiencing an Organoleptic tea tasting, using all your senses to experience with this heart opening plant.

You’ll have the opportunity to sample different preparations of Rose including syrup, glycerite, teas and tinctures and make a gorgeous Rose remedy to take home, along with a Rose spice blend. Everyone will also go home with a bag of Apothecary Rose petals to make their own tea.

Refreshments will be served during the morning and there’ll be plenty of delicious herbal teas during the session.

Herb School for August – diving into Rose.

Join me and enjoy the nostalgia of making ‘potions’ in a fun and relaxed environment, learning about herbs in community around the table. We’ll spend the evening diving into summer herbs, with a focus on Rose. We’ll make a Rose body scrub, Rose balm and botanical facial steam, with us wrapping up around 8.45pm.

Make new connections, come on your own or with a friend and gather upstairs at The Snowgoose for 7pm on Thursday 20th August.

There’ll be herbal tea for you on arrival or you might prefer to buy a drink from the bar and you’ll receive a warm, friendly welcome weaving fun and herbs together.

Autumn Herb School: Create Your Own Herbarium herb book

As the evenings draw in join me for a little seasonal magic at The Snowgoose, Macclesfield.

Over three cosy Thursday evenings, meeting once a month throughout autumn, we’ll gather to create a beautiful Herbarium—your own carefully curated collection of pressed herbs and plants, filled with the stories, folklore, and quiet wisdom of the season.

Together we’ll wander through the world of herbs, learning how to identify, press, preserve, and present the plants that surround us, while exploring their traditional uses, folklore, and the gentle rituals that have connected people with nature for centuries.

Think candlelit creativity, botanical treasures, good conversation, and a touch of that Practical Magic feeling—celebrating the beauty of the turning season with kindred spirits.

Whether you’re just beginning your herbal journey or looking to deepen your connection with the plants around you, you’ll leave with new knowledge, lasting memories, and a handcrafted herbarium to treasure.

Autumn Fire Cider & Winter Wellness Workshop

Date: Saturday 10th October, 10.30am-12.30pm

Prestbury Village Hall, Cheshire

Join me on  at Prestbury Village Hall to ready yourself for autumn and winter when you’ll make a traditional ‘Fire Cider’ (non alcoholic!) to take home.

During the workshop I’ll talk you through the steps and we’ll make the Fire Cider together, you’ll learn about all the herbs we work with – the science and the folklore. You’ll also be given details on what to do next after the workshop as your Fire Cider needs to mature for a few weeks You’ll also pick up tips on other easy kitchen remedies for the winter including Onion Syrup and herbal teas.

The herbs we will cover include Thyme, Rosemary, Garlic, Chilli, Ginger, Turmeric, Citrus, Onions and more.

This is a fun workshop and you’ll takeaway lots of new knowledge and your jar of Fire Cider to enjoy over the winter months. There’ll be plenty of herbal teas to enjoy and you’ll have your own worksheets to take home as reference.

Tickets are £45 per person and must be booked in advance. This includes all the organic herbs, equipment, tuition, worksheets, herbal teas during the workshop and your own jar of Fire Cider to take home.

Festive Herbal Christmas Wreath Workshop, Prestbury

Date: Saturday 21st November

Location: Prestbury Village Hall, Cheshire

Join me to make a festive wreath with foliage and herbs in time for Christmas on Saturday 21st November from 10.30am-12.30pm at Prestbury Village Hall.

Bring an apron and gloves as you’ll be getting hands on to make your wreath using herbs and foliage to welcome in the festive season!

All the equipment will be provided including the herbs, foliage, decoration, ribbon, wreath rings, moss, wire and tuition.

Refreshments and plenty of delicious warming herbal teas and spiced apple juice will also be included. You’ll also hear about some of the folklore and magical associations of the herbs being used for your wreath making.

Why not bring a friend or one of the family and you can also buy gift vouchers and the workshop makes a lovely early Christmas present!
